Black Ops III had online and split-screen co-op throughout the campaign, but Infinity Ward decided to go with a more traditional format this time around. This is a first for Call of Duty, which typically chops these types of gameplay into separate stages, or at least into different phases of a level.Īll of this takes place in a single-player experience. You go from the Carrier hub, out into space to dogfight against enemies, and into boots-on-the-ground combat without loading. "Your Jackal is also your mode of transportation into optional missions where you can choose to attack enemy targets of opportunity."Īll of this is seamless, which is pretty neat. You can't play as a male or female character, but instead see the story unfold through Reyes' eyes. Unlike Black Ops III, you don't play a generic protagonist. Players take on the role of Captain Nick Reyes. "We start our story in the middle of a sneak attack from The Front against the people of Earth." "They want to control off-planet outposts and their wealth, putting a stranglehold on the countries of Earth," says Minkoff.
